I'd like to introduce you to some pretty special people.
Scott + I
Our Baby Girl, Harper
Our Pup, Luna!
They're the reason why I work so hard to do what I do.
I've been a Registered Nurse (RN) on the labour + delivery unit since 2017. I have learned so much working there and have spent countless hours teaching and building confidence in new parents. I always felt like I could be doing more, but I was never sure of where to start. I knew the community was lacking resources, specifically in birth and breastfeeding education. I continued educating myself through certifications and courses hoping at least in this way I could offer evidence based information to those that I was discharging. It felt like it was all I could do - I am only one person, right?
In April 2021, at the height of the pandemic, we welcomed our daughter into the world. My birth didn't exactly go according to plan - speedy, unmedicated, and early. I was proud of myself of course, but before I could even wrap my head around the fact that I just birthed a child I was already postpartum. What the hell? It felt like a bit of a blur. We were tossed into breastfeeding around the clock, minimal sleep, and soon what came about as infant colic. I had heard this newborn part was hard, sure, but I hadn't prepared for any of this. We had support around us in the form of family and friends, but it still felt lonely and isolating at times. I wanted there to be a different way.
Amidst the craziness of that time, Ten Little Toes Inc. was born. A space where mama's felt supported, not judged for their choices, and confident either by utilizing our services or joining our social media page. I wanted to offer a better, streamlined experience for mothers and their families because they deserve it.
I promise to care about your family as if they were my own. If that's the care you're looking for,
you've found the right place
Some more about me...
Keeping busy is kind of my jam. In my spare time I love travelling and lived in Banff (Alberta) briefly before my final year of nursing school. I love taking courses that deep dive into health + wellness and nutrition has always peaked my interest. I love cooking healthy meals for my family and learning about how different foods can protect and heal our bodies.
These hobbies have actually helped me as the owner of Ten Little Toes because they allow me to develop care plans with a unique perspective - a little holistic, a little western medicine.
